CHILD GROWTH & HORMONES · IN PERSON
Is my child growing the way they should?
Height that has not changed in a year, weight that worries you, puberty that seems early or late, a thyroid report you do not fully understand — these are ordinary questions, and they deserve a proper answer rather than a guess.
Dr. Kabirul Alam (MBBS, FCPS), Child Endocrinologist, reviews your child in person at ZADEER. You leave with an explanation you can repeat at home, and a clear next step.

Come in with any of these.
Shorter than children of the same age
We plot height and weight on a growth chart over time. One measurement says little; a pattern says a lot.
Height that has stopped changing
A year with little growth is worth reviewing, especially between 4 years and puberty.
Weight gain or weight loss that worries you
Weight is discussed together with meals, activity, sleep and the family’s daily routine.
Puberty that seems early or late
A private, age-appropriate conversation with the family, and with the young person where that is right.
Thyroid or hormone reports you want explained
Bring existing reports. They are read with you, not just filed.
Diabetes or a long-term condition in a child
Day-to-day family management is discussed alongside the care your child already receives.
What the first visit looks like.
- MeasurementHeight, weight and, where useful, other measurements — taken carefully and recorded so the next visit can be compared.
- Your history, in your wordsGrowth so far, family heights, illnesses, appetite, sleep and any reports you bring.
- Examination and explanationDr. Kabirul Alam examines your child and explains what the growth chart is showing, in plain language.
- A clear next stepSometimes that is simply a review in a few months. Sometimes it is a test or a referral. You will know which, and why.

Practical things families ask
- Ages: from early childhood through the teenage years.
- Bring: previous prescriptions, growth or school health records, and any thyroid or hormone reports.
- Any test costs are explained before a test is done.
- Dr. Kabirul Alam sees children every day; the team confirms your time before you travel.
- This sits alongside your child’s existing doctor; it does not replace ongoing treatment.

Why growth belongs in child development
How a child grows is not separate from how they learn, play and feel. Slow growth, early or late puberty and thyroid problems can affect energy, concentration, mood and confidence at school. Checking them properly removes a worry, or finds something while it is still easy to help.
Working with your existing doctor
Many families come here already under a doctor’s care. That care continues. We add a focused growth review, explain what the numbers mean, and send you back with something written that your own doctor can read.
