FEELINGS & BEHAVIOUR · CHILD PSYCHOLOGIST · IN PERSON
When your child’s behaviour is hard to understand.
Tantrums that last an hour, a child who will not go to school, sudden fears, hitting a new baby, or going quiet after a family change — these are some of the most common reasons families feel stuck.
A child psychologist helps you see what sits underneath the behaviour, and builds a calm, practical plan with you — at the centre, in person, with parents fully involved.

Families come to us with these.
Tantrums, anger, hitting or biting
Understanding what sets it off, and a consistent response every adult at home can use.
Worries, fears and clinginess
Separation, sleeping alone, new places, the dark — helped step by step rather than forced.
School refusal or trouble at school
What is happening at school and at home, and a plan that involves both when that helps.
Screens, phones and withdrawal
Reducing screen dependence without daily battles, and bringing back time together.
Big changes in the family
A new sibling, moving house, loss or separation — helping a child make sense of it at their own pace.
Attention and activity concerns
A first look at attention and behaviour at home and school, and whether a formal assessment is needed — and who should do it.
How the work usually goes.
- Parents firstA conversation with parents or caregivers — sometimes without the child present — about what is happening and what has been tried.
- Getting to know the childThrough play and talk, at the child’s pace, in a room built to feel safe.
- A shared understandingWhat seems to be driving the behaviour, explained in plain words.
- A plan for home, and a reviewA few realistic steps for home (and school where helpful), with a date to look at what changed.

Practical things families ask
- Your child’s sessions are in person. ZADEER does not provide therapy for children online; parents can book paid online guidance separately.
- What a child shares is treated with care. Parents are always told about anything that affects the child’s safety.
- A psychologist does not prescribe medicine. When a medical opinion is needed, the paediatrician or another appropriate specialist is involved.
If a child talks about hurting themselves or someone else, or you believe they are not safe, do not wait for an appointment — call 999 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department now.
Tell us what is happening at home.
A short description is enough. The team confirms your time, the fee and whether the first meeting should be with parents only.
Behaviour is a message
A child who hits, refuses, clings or shuts down is usually telling you something they cannot yet say. The work is to understand that message and give the child — and the adults around them — a better way through.
Parents are part of the work
Most change happens at home, between sessions. That is why parents and caregivers are involved from the first conversation, and why a small, realistic home plan matters more than a long list of advice.
